Juan Sanjuan

Juan Sanjuan Mas is currently a principal trombonist with the Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid (ORCAM). He also teaches at the Centro Superior Katarina Gurska in Madrid and at the Brass Academy Alicante alongside Dani Perpiñán. Previously, he worked as principal trombone with the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra in Milan, the Orchestre National de France, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

He graduated with honors in trombone performance from the Conservatorio Superior de Música “Óscar Esplá” in Alicante, where he studied with Professor Felipe Lanuza. He then completed a Master’s degree in Performance at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg (Germany) under Professor Fabrice Millischer.

He regularly plays with major orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Teatro alla Scala Orchestra, Filarmonica de la Scala, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Orquesta Nacional de España, Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, Orquestra de Cadaqués, Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de RadioTelevisión Española, Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, Freiburger Philharmonisches Orchester, and the Baden-Baden Philharmonic. These collaborations have allowed him to work with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Christoph Eschenbach, Daniele Gatti, Krzysztof Urbański, and George Pehlivanian, among others.

He was also a member of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE), and toured Europe as part of the “Give Music” project, organized by the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY).

Juan has won first prize at several competitions, including the XII “José Valcárcel” National Youth Music Competition in A Estrada (Pontevedra), the “Ruperto Chapí” Youth Competition in Villena, the “Antonio Serrano” Youth Competition in Priego de Córdoba, and the Juventudes Musicales de España Competition. Thanks to these awards, he undertook a recital tour across Spain.
