Chao-Chun Cheng

Member of the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra and trombone instructor at Sun Yat-sen National University and Tainan National University.

Chao-Chun Cheng has been a member of the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra since 2015. He holds both a Master of Music and a Performance Diploma from Indiana University Bloomington, where he studied under Professor Peter Ellefson. His principal teachers include Peter Ellefson, Carl Lenthe, M. Dee Stewart, Chia-Jung Tsai, Shyan-Jer Lee, and Tien-Jung Yu.

Throughout his career, Chao-Chun has received numerous awards in Taiwan, including First Prize at the ATS Solo Competition (2009), Winner of the Concerto Competition at Taipei National University of the Arts (2006), First Prize at the Hsing-Tien-Kong Music Competition (2003, 2005), and First Prize at the National Taiwan Music Competition (1999, 2001, 2003). Internationally, he won the 2011 ETW National Trombone Quartet Competition with the IU Trombone Quartet, and Third Prize at the 6th Jeju International Brass Competition (2010) as a member of Dash Brass Quintet.

He has participated in several prestigious music festivals and orchestras, including the National Repertory Orchestra (2012), Pacific Music Festival (2011), Asian Youth Orchestra (2001), and Taiwan Youth Symphony Orchestra (1999). In 2013, he was selected as a Fellow at the Alessi Seminar.

In addition to his orchestral work, Chao-Chun serves as a trombone instructor at National Sun Yat-sen University and the National University of Tainan.
